So it's now twenty past two Sunday morning and Hackday is quietly continuing.
Today has been an interesting day, which has include a lightning strike that seemed to take out the wifi and triggered the fire protection systems. The Result bizarrely being that a bunch of hydraulically powered doors in the roof opened; letting in the rain!
This resulted in a generally moving of bodies from the main hall to the foyer, till the issue was resolved.
It also messed up the WiFi access points which proceeded to be flakey for quite a while. Which limits the ability to hack together exciting web apps, if you can't get online.
In a surprise early win for Team SSDC, I have completed a Hack already!
I have used the new API from www.mybloglog.com and the API from www.nabaztag.com and merged them.
Basically, I can poll the mybloglog data to see who the last person to visit the site was. Then, I can check if it's changed from the last time I checked. Then if it has I send a message to the Nabaztag API telling it to say who visited.
This hack came about because of a suggestion of Micah Laker (http://www.laaker.com/micah/). He also helped ALOT with getting it together (cheers!). Laurent of Violet (makers of the Nabaztag) also helped alot with my cruddy PHP skills and of course by bringing over a box of shiny new Nabaztag/tags one of which is sitting next to me now!
Stay tuned for more later...
