Hackday London 2007 - Hack One Done.
Saturday, June 16, 2007, 08:03 PM
Hi,
really pleased that I completed a hack this evening.
I have used the new API from
www.mybloglog.com and the API from
www.nabaztag.com and merged them.
Basically, I can poll the mybloglog data to see who the last person to visit the site was. Then, I can check if it's changed from the last time I checked. Then if it has I send a message to the Nabaztag API telling it to ay who visited.
Easy!
Pleased to "have one in the bag", so to speak. Didn't really expect to actually be able to do something. So it s nice to have been able to work with the APIs and to do something new with them.

Hi,
well this is the last post from home, the next one will be from Alexandra Palace and HackDay London.
I have been thinking about what to do and I think (maybe) that I have a good idea.
Probably something to do with
www.Plazes.com I think maybe linking upcoming. So that perhaps when go to a new plaze, it searches upcoming for that geo and then...
Dunno.
We shall see.
Can't wait!

So... I'm heading to London for Hackdaylondon it's all about tacking those strands of data (okay pipes) and gluing them together to make something else.
Since finding out I was going I have been racking my brain for ideas for a hack or two. And slowly ever so slowly the ideas are coming. I am wondering about hacks that are Judo specific (of course).
Maybe some way of scraping the IJF/EJU/BJA (or USA JUDO) sites and piping it into upcoming? Also thinking about Plazes and if there is a hack there somewhere.
Any bright ideas?
P.s. I shall also be blogging about the event, mainly at
www.siliconsouls.com probably.

I have been playing with Parallels 3 (www.parallels.com) this evening.
Before I could, I had a few problems.
Thankfully support from Parallels is really good, responsive and (scarily) friendly. First answer they gave worked perfect. Which was related to my having installed the Beta on my bootcamp partition and had not uninstalled it.
Anyway...
Parallels 3 is out, and it is terrific.
Got 3d Acceleration working, fired up Virtual Skipper and it worked great. Awesome, real games later shall be tested in the name of being thorough.
Weird thing that VMware released the Beta of Fusion on the same day as Parallels was released. Marketing decision or technical decision, you decide.
