Still pondering entrepreneurship.

In an earlier post I pondered my status as an entrepreneur, at least the personality type.

I am still wondering about it and how do you cope as an entrepreneur, especially if like me, you are quite isolated.

The entrepreneur requires "pillers" that can compensate for the areas that entrepreneurs are weak. As a friend of mine described it to me tonight, I have my fingers in too many pies.
He is right of course and the problem is that I tend to flit from project to project and often I don't capitalise on the efforts I put in.

Examples are:

My www.Judocoach.com site, really not done anything to it for months!
www.thejudopodcast.eu, not done a podcast for weeks and weeks!
www.Judo4parents.com, not enough posts!
Many more!

So how do I resolve this issue? How do I find people that can help me follow through? How do I find people that will make some of these ideas successes that preferably make a profit, maybe even provide some income. Maybe even give me an opportunity to do it fulltime?

Hmm....

All help appreciated!

Nabaztag Bunny Semaphore

WOW!

My little Nabaztag Bunny Hack at Hackday London seems to have taken on a life of it's own. So far most every post about Hackday I have seen mentions it! (including on www.Wired.com)

I am hoping to get a video of it online tonight along with photos and the code.

Check back soon!

All it took was a reboot at Hackdaylondon.

Okay... at about 5am this morning I decided to stop banging my head against the digital door and lay down to sleep here in the West Hall of Alexandra Palace, I was strugling with lib_curl and getting data from the plazes API.

The sleep only lasted to about 5:45am, but up I got and took another look at my little hack PHP script.

5 Minutes later it worked!
It appears I am a lot like a Windoze machine, occasionally just turning it off and turning it back on again makes everything work again. The hack itself (number two thank you very much!), checks if I am registered in a plaze (www.plaze.com) checks if I am, it checks if it's where I was the last time it checked up on me.

If it is new, it hits the Nabaztag API and makes the bunny report my where abouts (I can tell my wife will like this hack!). It also (after a bit more hacking) ping twitter and updates twitter saying what plaze I am in and what city too for that matter.

It's all coming up roses this morning, I must remember to reboot myself more often!

Hackdaylondon part 1

So it's now twenty past two Sunday morning and Hackday is quietly continuing.

Today has been an interesting day, which has include a lightning strike that seemed to take out the wifi and triggered the fire protection systems. The Result bizarrely being that a bunch of hydraulically powered doors in the roof opened; letting in the rain!

This resulted in a generally moving of bodies from the main hall to the foyer, till the issue was resolved.
It also messed up the WiFi access points which proceeded to be flakey for quite a while. Which limits the ability to hack together exciting web apps, if you can't get online.

In a surprise early win for Team SSDC, I have completed a Hack already!

I have used the new API from www.mybloglog.com and the API from www.nabaztag.com and merged them.

Basically, I can poll the mybloglog data to see who the last person to visit the site was. Then, I can check if it's changed from the last time I checked. Then if it has I send a message to the Nabaztag API telling it to say who visited.

This hack came about because of a suggestion of Micah Laker (http://www.laaker.com/micah/). He also helped ALOT with getting it together (cheers!). Laurent of Violet (makers of the Nabaztag) also helped alot with my cruddy PHP skills and of course by bringing over a box of shiny new Nabaztag/tags one of which is sitting next to me now!

Stay tuned for more later...
